Chuck Donnelly Ink, Celtic Music

Our home is Mount Desert Island Maine. While many of our gigs are in the Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor area, our tour schedule takes us any where we can travel. Our music style can be called Celtic Music (a mix of Irish, Scottish, Appalachia, and New England music forms), but we take great pride in making the music our own. We are not constrained by the traditions, we are inspired by them. We are not preserving tradition; we are moving it forward. Our job is to keep the music alive and well. We mix folk songs, with fiddle tunes; we mix Irish, Scottish, and Old-time; we play them differently. Let's call our music "New-time" (fresh takes on the age-old traditions). Why not? Art will not stand to stagnate; art is progressive...-cd

More about our music

Emma and Chuck have been performing together for three years. Their music takes you on a journey from the Celtic Highlands of Scotland through Ireland to Cape Breton and the shores of Maine. While listening to their music, you are reminded of their celtic music roots and the influence of the Appalachia (Old-time) region in the southern United States. These old-world and new-world related musical cultures converge in New England where a distinctive style of Celtic and Old Time music has taken root. Emma's powerful fiddle style is developed from her classical music training, her experiences at the Maine Fiddle Camp, her evenings spent playing at contra dances with The Big Moose contra band, and her time playing with Chuck. Chuck's percusive rythms interwoven with melodic picking enhances Emma's fiddle and carrying each tune from beginning to powerful conclusion. In concert these two "rock!"

What do we do

Chuck and Emma play concerts, background music, and dances and any combination of these. They know other musicians who can sit in with them if you'd like a bigger sound. Their music centers around the Celtic dance music traditions, but they also play folk music and other related forms of music. "Let us know what you want, and we'll help make your day and event to remember!"

About booking

Chuck and Emma book events well in advance. If you are planning an event, be sure to check in with them as soon as you have a date. If you aren't sure of the exact date, they can hold several dates for you and call you before giving any of those dates to someone else.
